Rescue Day - Britain's biggest Emergency Services display event is with us again, and is bigger and better than ever before! Live displays this year include: RAF 22 Squadron helicopter hoists with the RNLI all weather and inland lifeboat; Coastguard with Exmoor Search & Rescue scaling down the hillside; Massive chip pan fire; the Fire Service’s turntable ladder extending so high it just has to be seen to be believed; Roof getting cut off a car; Drugs/Firearms dog; Handheld flare display; Mountain-Rescue 75th anniversary “Then and Now” enactment; and a motorcycle crash scenario. All the vehicles will be there – squad cars, motorbikes, 4x4’s, ambulances, fire engines. More Emergency and support services taking part than ever before. There will be a Big Screen which will give a good close-up view of the action for all. Also this year there will be a real two boat Gig race by Ilfracombe’s newly formed Gig Club, and a fabulous professional Bird of Prey display at lunchtime from renowned UK falconer Jonathon Marshall. Raffle prizes include an actual seat on a Gig in the race, and a personal day’s falconry! Cameras are a must! Great value and all for local charity; this is definitely one for your diary.

PARK & RIDE

Everyone is of course very welcome to use the Park & Ride shuttle buses but we would ask, that in order to avoid any unnecessary waiting, any able-bodied could enjoy what is a very pleasant walk down the harbourside rather than queue. This would benefit the infirm and very young for whom the service is much needed. Thankyou.
